What's included in the cloud dashboard?

All tiers get the cloud dashboard with a real-time attack map. Starter adds geo-location data, payload and credential details, custom port profiles, CSV/JSON export, and team management. Pro adds CVE detection, AI threat insights, fleet management, global firewall rules, permanent bans, custom banners, and attack heatmaps.

What is MCP integration?

MCP (Model Context Protocol) lets AI assistants like Claude connect directly to your TarPit.pro account. Ask your AI to query attack data, check server status, or manage fleet bans, all through natural language. Available on Pro tier.

Does TarPit.pro slow down my server?

Accepted Answer

No. TarPit.pro uses minimal resources (typically <1% CPU, <50MB RAM). The honeypot listeners are highly optimized and don't impact your real services.

Can I whitelist legitimate IPs?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely. All tiers include IP/CIDR whitelisting. Pro tier adds per-group whitelists for complex fleet setups. Whitelisted IPs are never banned.

How does fleet management work?

Pro tier lets you group servers (e.g., production, staging). When one server bans an IP, it automatically propagates to all servers in the fleet. You can also unban fleet-wide with a single click.

Starter users get 5 working day critical responses, and Pro users get 1 working day critical responses. Is my attack data private?

Absolutely. All sensitive data is encrypted via HashiCorp Vault, even if our database were compromised, attackers would only find UUIDs and encrypted hashes. Your data is never shared with other customers.

How do I install TarPit.pro?

Accepted Answer

One command: curl -sSL https://get.tarpit.pro | sh. The installer handles everything, downloading the binary, configuring the firewall, and starting the service. No Docker, no dependencies.

What operating systems are supported?

TarPit.pro runs on Linux (x86_64, arm64), macOS (Intel, Apple Silicon), and Windows. The same single binary works everywhere.

Can I cancel my subscription?

Yes, you can cancel anytime. Refunds are prorated based on time remaining, minus a 5% credit handling fee to cover payment processing costs. See our refund policy for full details.

How do upgrades and downgrades work?

You can upgrade or downgrade between tiers at any time. Upgrades: you're charged the prorated difference for remaining days (current day is free). Downgrades: you receive a prorated refund minus a 5% credit handling fee (includes current day). All licenses in your organization must be the same tier.

What is the 5% credit handling fee?

When issuing refunds (downgrades or cancellations), we deduct a 5% credit handling fee to cover payment processing costs. Stripe charges approximately 4% on average (2.9% + $0.30 per transaction), and the 5% covers this with a small buffer. No fee is applied to upgrade charges.

Will TarPit.pro block search engine crawlers like Googlebot or Bingbot?

No. Legitimate search engine crawlers (Google, Bing, etc.) only connect to HTTP/HTTPS ports (80/443) to index web content. TarPit.pro honeypots listen on non-web ports like SSH (22), MySQL (3306), Redis (6379), and others. A real crawler would never connect to these ports. If something hitting a honeypot port claims to be a crawler, it's a fake, an attacker spoofing the user agent, and banning it is the correct response. No whitelisting needed.
