How It Started
TarPit.pro started as a side project after watching thousands of brute-force attempts hit a personal VPS every day. The existing solutions were either too complex (SIEM systems), too expensive (commercial honeypots), or too limited (basic firewall rules).
We wanted something that would not just detect attacks, but waste the attacker's time and resources. Enter the tarpit, a honeypot that responds deliberately slowly, keeping attackers connected for minutes or hours while they think they're making progress.
The result is a single binary that installs in seconds, protects immediately, and punishes attackers for targeting your server.

TarPit.pro is open source under the MIT license. The core honeypot, CLI, and firewall integration are all available on GitHub.
